Sickness is about perseption, not about physical

Mens sana in corpore sano“, said Roman slogan, written in Latin. It is written by Juvenal, a Roman. The meaning is “A healthy mind in a healthy body”. The complete poet is as below:

In original Latin:
orandum est ut sit mens sana in corpore sano.
fortem posce animum mortis terrore carentem,
qui spatium vitae extremum inter munera ponat
naturae, qui ferre queat quoscumque labores,
nesciat irasci, cupiat nihil et potiores
Herculis aerumnas credat saevosque labores
et venere et cenis et pluma Sardanapalli.
monstro quod ipse tibi possis dare; semita certe
tranquillae per virtutem patet unica vitae.

which in English translation is as below:

You should pray for a healthy mind in a healthy body.
Ask for a stout heart that has no fear of death,
and deems length of days the least of Nature’s gifts
that can endure any kind of toil,
that knows neither wrath nor desire and thinks
the woes and hard labors of Hercules better than
the loves and banquets and downy cushions of Sardanapalus.
What I commend to you, you can give to yourself;
For assuredly, the only road to a life of peace is virtue.

At that that time, that assumption probably where true as the mind are still not so complexly thing this la vida loca alias the crazy word. Probably, Juvenal though that if we have a healthy body, we will have a healthy mind. Means, with healthy body, we may work nicely, sleep nicely, interact with another nicely without any disturbance, without need to think anything about our unhealthiness.

But however, this assumption will not always be true in this modern days as life become so complex. Now, the fact is in reverse order. Someone could have healthy body but insane with the mind. Some people sent to nuthouse as they have insane mind (contrast to their body). This is a tragic situation, however.

Mind is the central of our life. We may unhealthy body as long we have a “clean” mind. Clean in hear is mean that our mind not suffer anything. We have seen such this situation in many place. One of the most popular and spectacular example is an English physicist, Stephen Hawkins. He is paralyzed physically but has a bright brain. His mind is working very bright. Even on his wheel chair, he is still think about physic science. Many postulates still he produce in his paralyzed.

How did it happen? The answer clearly is because his mind is healthy even his body/physic is not. His unhealthy body/physic doesn’t affect his mind. But should be vice versa, if the mind is not healthy, the body will be also not truly healthy.

From those explanation, we may see that the sickness is about perception. If our mind said that we are sick, then we will be truly sick. But if our mind said that we are health, then we will be truly health. Mind drives our body. But however, some body sickness will affect our mind, but in the lower level than the vice versa.
